Chateau Slezské Rudoltice
Chateau Slezské Rudoltice: the Baroque pearl of the Osoblažsko region
In the middle of the picturesque landscape of the Osoblažsko region lies the Slezské Rudoltice Chateau, sometimes nicknamed “Silesian Versailles”. This historical gem with a rich past was once one of the most important cultural centres of the region and today attracts visitors for tours, exhibitions and romantic walks in the castle park.
A history full of stories
The original 16th-century Renaissance fortress was converted into a Baroque chateau in the 18th century, whose greatest fame was brought to it by Heinrich Wilhelm von Tschammer, a patron of the arts, who created a cultural centre here known as the “Silesian Versailles”. After his death, however, the castle declined until it became a ruin after the Second World War. Fortunately, in recent years it has been gradually restored and has come back to life.
